Boys Bowling Team Wins Citywide

01_team_resized Congratulations to the Clemente Boys Bowling Team and to their coaches, Mr Irizarry and Ms Rum! They captured the citywide title yesterday, January 27. One of the team members, Aivan Rosa, went on to the State competition with Coach Irizarry today. He also played an almost perfect game last week at Mather.

School-Community Forum

school forum 2 Clemente will host a School-Community Forum on Saturday, January 23, 2010, in the Library, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. We invite all members of the Clemente community (students, parents, teachers, staff) as well as those of the neighborhood Clemente sits in to participate and contribute with their voices.

We want to make Clemente live to its full potential, but we need everyone to contribute with ideas and their vision!

Students Win Scholarship with Artwork!

payaso triste Several Clemente students were awarded scholarships on October 27, 2009, through Latino Art Beat. The ceremony took place at Columbia College Chicago, 1104 South Wabash - 8th Floor, at the Film Row Cinema. Clemente High School Students received around $100,000 in all the winning!

Congratulations to Patricia Morales, Althea Harvey, Ribo Espino for being awarded scholarships to Columbia College, and Jessica Rivera for her scholarship to the Illinois Institute of Art. Congratulations also to the art department teachers who prepared our students to fare so well.

Summer Students Get Long Distance Tutoring

Students at Clemente learn through a distance learning program by Elevate. Students in Mr Heiserman's summer math class are getting help from tutors from India in the Distance Learning program at Clemente.

The company Elevate Learning was contracted by Clemente to work with students this summer. Each student will get 25 hours of one-on-one tutoring by a personal tutor who is located in Mumbai, India.

"Each student works with the same tutor throughout the program to form a positive learning relationship," says Suhas Ghuge, President of Elevate Learning. "Each student has an individualized learning plan based on a pre-test and the curriculum is alligned to supplement classroom instruction. Student progress is monitored by weekly formative assessments and the results are shared with the teachers and administrators."
