In US history classes, Roberto Clemente Community Academy sophomores have been diving into contemporary politics with specific focus on the 2016 US presidential election. Before you cast your vote on November 8th, here are some of our Wildcat opinions:

“Hillary Clinton should win the election. I would vote for her because she wants to give everyone equal rights. For example, when she says abortion is acceptable and fights for the woman’s right to chose. Everyone deserves to be able to make their own decisions. Everyone has their own struggle so if they’re not ready to bring a baby into this world they can decide on that for themselves. Another reason I would vote for Clinton is because she’s understanding. I believe she is understanding because she’s trying to make college debt free. She is trying to help those who can’t afford to go to college. I give her credit for that because not everyone can afford to pay for college.” Jocilyn

“In class, we have been talking about the election between Clinton and Trump, and I believe HIllary Clinton should be president of the United States. Clinton looks like she would be more mature and more responsible than Donald Trump. Clinton would be a more helpful than Trump because Clinton wants to make a pathway for immigrants so they can become citizens more easily. All Trump wants to do is put a big wall between US citizens and immigrants. Clinton wants us to be united and Trump wants us to be separate. This is why I believe Clinton would be a better president than Trump.” – Ariana

“I would vote for Hillary Clinton because she wants to create a pathway to citizenship for the immigrants who want to come to the United States. She’s willing to give citizens more jobs. In addition, she wants collage to be debt free. She was a senator and a secretary of state and has a lot of experience with politics. – Rodrigo
