Boys Basketball Edges Out Wells

The Boys Basketball team won their home opener this year against neighborhood rival Wells High School, by a final score of 74-73. Seniors Michael Calhoun and Albert Mendez led the team in scoring. Albert scored 14 points going 3-4 from the 3-point line and tied the game with 30 seconds left. Freshman Teshawn Stokes then forced a turnover with fifteen seconds left, one of the biggest plays of the game!

The game ended on a foul call where Michael Calhoun went to the line with 2 seconds left. He knocked down the first free throw to give Clemente a 74-73 lead, and the win. This also gave Michael a season- and game-high of 29 points.
After the varsity game, the JV team beat Wells with a 20-point win. Led by sophomores Johan Gonzales and Mike Mitchell, the team played good defense and only allowed 30 points.
The team will look to continue their winning streak as they begin their conference season this Wednesday at home vs Al Raby High School at 4:30. On Friday, they will be traveling to conference rival Crane High School. Come support the team as their conference season begins!
