Clemente Boys Basketball Season Wraps Up!

The Clemente Boys Basketball Team finished their season with a Regional Semi Final loss to Perspectives Math and Science Academy. The conference rival, Perspectives, trailed in the final quarter but were able to come back and win the game to move on the Regional Final against Farragut High School at Clemente. The Clemente boys finished the season with 16 wins, and had double digit wins for the fifth year in a row. They also matched a school record, being rewarded with a 6 seed in the State Playoffs.

Moving forward, the team loses two leaders, seniors Richard Labon and Jamaul Perdue. Richard led the team in rebounding and assists, while Jamaul led the team in 3 point and free throw shooting. The seniors led the team in scoring and rebounding on Wednesday in the game against Perspectives MSA. Richard played so well that ThePublicLeague.com published an article about him detailing his spectacular performance and stellar leadership in their most recent online post, March 2nd.

Junior Teshawn Stokes, who led the team in scoring, will return next year as the leader of the Wildcats. The team will also return with 7 other junior players, including starting point guard Dakota White, who scored 14 points in the finale, as well as junior Charvale Bass, who was a starting player in more than ten games last year. Juniors Lavelle Nelson, Ameen Pickett, DaeJon Blake, Joseph Hernandez, and Staffone Dodson, will also return; they have each played basketball under Coach Hoover for three consecutive years. Each student athlete brings a different strength that looks to make the team more well rounded than in the previous years.

The Wildcats are thankful for all the love and support from the families and fans this year, and are looking forward to returning next year with a better season record and better results!
