Clemente Wrestling Finishes in Top 10 in CPS

The word “Clemente” has been spreading throughout CPS Wrestling like wildfire. In the past 2 weeks, CPS has crowned 2 City Champions and 1 silver medalist from Clemente High School. Freshman Charles Perdue put on a great display of technique and strength as he dominated his opponents at the Frosh/Soph CPS tournament and was the champion at 126 lbs. Gio Sosa had the most exciting match of the City tournament by winning his semi-final match in triple overtime (8-7) over a Kenwood wrestler at 138 lbs; he later lost in the 1st place match to an opponent from Lane Tech (16-2). George Sosa did not disappoint the crowd with his double overtime match against a Taft wrestler. With an escape and a takedown in the last seconds, George Sosa went up 4-1 to win the Varsity City Title at 160 lbs.

All the fans and coaches congratulate the Clemente wrestlers for their top 10 finish at the CPS Varsity City Tournament. Check out more of the action on February 8 at Roosevelt High School, where Clemente will be competing in the IHSA State Regionals.
