Dia de los Reyes - Day of The Kings - January 7. 2011

On Thursday, January 6, 2011, nine representatives (students and teachers) from Roberto Clemente took a \"El Dia de Los Reyes\" stroll west on Division and visited several merchants and non-profits with businesses on the \"Paseo Borricua\".

In the spirit of this cultural holiday so significant to many of our families, we presented a little token gift bag to demonstrate our appreciation, like a Clemente T-Shirt and such.

All the merchants received us warmly; it was truly an honor to have been part of it. The idea behind the walk was to reach out to the many positive assets in the Clemente community. The students were great; everyone enjoyed their enthusiasm-- and their singing!!

Hopefully, this will become a Clemente family tradition; it\'s a perfect day for such an occasion.

The businesses were presented a laminated card from us that read:

Today we walk down Division Street from flag to flag, to greet you and to offer you this token of appreciation on this cultural holiday, a day significant to so many in the Humboldt Park Community. It is our hope that this event, \"Robert Clemente Academy Dia del Los Reyes Community Walk,\" will foster goodwill and develop stronger community ties.

So we thank you for your hard work and your important contribution to our community. We are grateful for your help in making our community stronger, better, and economically sounder. May you experience much prosperity and good health in the New Year.
