Good First Year, Better Second Year and Beyond

This is my first year at Clemente High School and so far, it’s a blast! There have been new people to meet with new opportunities to seize; new teachers to be taught by and supporting counselors who are there to talk with you in times of distress. When I arrived on the first day of high school, I was surprised by the work pace but I adjusted quickly. I was in General Classes for 10 weeks until I was promoted into the Honors Cohort. Now that I’m in the Honors Cohort, I have to compete for the highest average score in all classes; it’s difficult but very rewarding!

Towards the middle of the school year, I joined the Media Club after school and I was exposed to Garage Band (a music production application provided on Apple products). I’ve played around with the drum kits, synths, leads, pads, and chords and much more. As I became familiar with EQ-ing, layering melodies, volume check and beat structure, this led to my first song “Legacy (The Legacy Anthem)”. I created several songs after that as I learned new techniques. I’ve developed my taste of music over the past couple years to produce House music from 120 BPM, to Groove Maker 1 and 2, to Studio.M, to Novation Launchpad, to Logic Pro, and now to Garage Band. Next year I will be in the Radio & TV Broadcasting Program, where I can learn more about this technology and hopefully more about weather broadcasting (which is my true passion)!

Overall, it has been a great year to open up to a new crowd, work smart and play hard. I’m looking forward to another year of hard work. I’m also looking forward to meeting new people next year as well. This will be an awesome next three years!
