• Achievement Rate Improved: Clemente has received CPS Recognition of Improvement Awards four consecutive years for increases in Reading/English, Mathematics, and Composite Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) scores as follows:
  • CPS Recognition of Improvement in READING on PSAE 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
  • CPS Recognition of Improvement in MATHEMATICS on PSAE 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
  • CPS Recognition of Improvement in COMPOSITE on PSAE 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
• Attendance rate increased: 86.60%
• Graduation rate increased: 86.60%

National Recognition

• On October 7, 2005, R. Clemente Community Academy was named one of the nation's 75 Promising Schools by the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the International Center for Leadership in Education for successfully organizing six academically-focused and career-liked small schools.
• Clemente is the only Chicago school to receive this honor.

• Clemente's recreational facility include an Olympic-styled swimming pool, two indoor gyms, a fully equipped weight room, a baseball field, soccer field, softball field, two tennis courts, and several outdoor basketball courts.
• Clemente's Wildcats Student Health Center offers free medical care and counseling services to students.
• Clemente has nine computer labs, four portable laptop labs, and an Internet-ready computer in every classroom.
• Clemente television production classes produce a news bulletin broadcasted in every classroom daily.
• Clemente sponsors dozens of clubs, including Drum Line, Band, Chorus, Drama, School Newspaper, Yearbook, National Honor Society, Academic Decathlon, Mayor Daley's Book Club, African American Club, Mexican Club, Student Government, Play for Peace, Science Club and more.

Administration & Staff

• In addition to the principal and assistant principals, Clemente has a dean of students, three deans, six counselors, 153 teachers and about 45 educational support staff members.
• Clemente has four fully-staffed lunchrooms.
• Clemente is maintained by four engineers, including a chief engineer, and a professional crew of custodians.
• Clemente's security office is staffed by two City of Chicago police officers and a team of 11 trained security guards.
