Pedro Martinez, wrestling for Clemente High School, won the Chicago city championship this past weekend at Chicago State University at 152 lbs, becoming the first ever in the history of the school.
His current record is 28-0. Pedro has enjoyed tremendous success due to his committment and determination on the mat. Last season, Pedro was All City Winner as the 145 lbs runner-up. His sophomore year, he finished fifth. Currently, Pedro is the top seed in the state qualifying regional topurnament scheduled for this saturday at St Patrick High School.
He is also the top ranked wrestler in his weight class in the sectional qualifier, which ultimately sends the top four wrestlers to Champaign, Illinois for the state tournament. We are hoping Pedro will become the school's first state qualifier in history.
Congratulations to Pedro Martinez for representing Clemente High School.
