Roberto Clemente is at the top of their game, both on the field and in the classroom. There has been a major push at Clemente to increase technology in the classroom, and both the teachers and students have seen the benefits of it.
Students in Mr. Newquist’s English II class have been working on ThinkCERCA one day a week for the past few weeks, and will continue to work on it for the rest of the semester. ThinkCERCA is an online, Common Core State Standard-aligned reading program with tools and content teachers need to help students learn to read closely, think critically, and develop powerful arguments. ThinkCERCA provides an outlet for creating arguments across the curriculum, so teachers and students can be focused on student growth and preparation for college.
Student Steven Fitts proclaims, “I really like this program. It is nice to be in the computer lab working with technology and working on our reading and writing skills.” Malik Baker states “I like that there are different levels… if it is too easy the teacher will make it harder for us. He is always pushing us to get better. Everything here at Clemente is about being successful in college, I like that the teachers are always working on different ways to work with us.”
